Governors

The Governing Body of Thornborough Infant School main aim is to support staff in delivering objectives and the strategic vision of the school. Governors share a common interest of the education, wellbeing and social development of the pupils at Thornborough Infant School. The following Governors use their diverse background, interests and expertise to lead and manage the school.

Due to the constraints of a small Governing Body, Thornborough Governors operate a circle model, where decisions are not passed to committees but, instead, all Governors are involved in every meeting and decision.

  • working with the Headteacher to ensure that teaching within the school is effective and of good quality and that children achieve the highest possible standards;
  • taking general responsibility for the school and its budget;
  • acting as “critical friend” to the school by challenging and supporting the senior management team and by taking opportunities to show interest in and appreciation of the work of staff and pupils
  • promoting the interests of its pupils in the wider community
